Sandy Nurse
Candidate for City Council, District 37
Campaign Updates:
Due to COVID-19, the Special Election for the District 37 Council seat has been rescheduled for June 23rd (Primary Day). That means the Special Election and the Primary Election will now appear on the same ballot—the Special electing a candidate to fill out the rest of 2020, and the Primary electing the Democratic candidate who will run in the General Election in November. The winner of the General Election will start serving in 2021. In the past few days, this race has gotten complicated—and Sandy needs us even more! A Machine candidate has challenged the petitions that would allow Sandy to appear on the Primary ballot, saying Sandy did not reach the required number of constituent signatures (she did!). After a NYC Board of Elections hearing, it’s now up to the Brooklyn Supreme Court to decide whether Sandy will be allowed to run in the Primary, although she’ll appear as a Special Election candidate either way.
