Marti Speranza Wong

Marti began her work in local government, serving as Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, then Director of Women Entrepreneurs NYC (WE NYC). In 2017 Marti ran for City Council, where she experienced firsthand the unique challenges women candidates face. Marti was elected Democratic State Committeewoman, appointed to Community Board 5, served as President of GSID and is currently on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity NYC. Marti received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Harvard University.

Anika Michel

Anika is a human rights professional who is passionate about women’s empowerment and public policy. She has worked at UN Women, where she learned the importance of donor intelligence in global advocacy efforts toward gender equality. She has also worked in the Communications Department of the ACLU. Anika studied English Literature and Spanish at Binghamton University and earned her Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Edda Santiago

Edda has served as VP, Corporate Counsel at an international non-profit that helps young people experiencing homelessness and previously represented low-income tenants facing eviction in Manhattan. In 2021, she managed a Bronx City Council campaign. Edda also serves on Manhattan's Community Board 12. Edda was a 2021 CUP Fellow and named as one of 2020 Prospanica Top 20 Latinx Leaders in NYC. Prior to moving to NYC, she worked for a U.S. Senator and interned for the National Women's Political Caucus and the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.

Sarah Shea

As a biracial Asian woman, Sarah has witnessed firsthand how the failings of our social and political institutions adversely affect women and people of color. Inspired by this experience, Sarah sought better ways to engage herself and contribute to the community surrounding her. Sarah's worn a number of hats in her professional life, from working as a case manager for people with developmental disabilities, performing canvassing work and leading workshops on Ranked Choice Voting system.

Jen Hoppe

Jennifer is a writer who studied Journalism/Mass Communication and Women’s Studies at St. Bonaventure University. In 2008, two game-changing Democratic candidates ignited a political fire within her. Since then, Jen has knocked thousands of doors in NY, PA and VA, called voters in districts all across the country and became active in two Democratic Clubs. Jen was elected District Leader and has served as a Judicial Delegate.

Minah Kim

Minah has been organizing in New York since 2018. Minah worked as Brooklyn Borough Director with Amplify Her and led a field program for City Council Member Sandy Nurse. Minah currently works as a labor organizer, helping workers build power in New York. Previously, Minah has worked in healthcare and non-profit sectors and graduated from Columbia University with a degree in chemical engineering and English.

Megan Douglas

Megan obtained a degree in economics from Smith College. While putting herself through college she directly benefited from many social programs, and has experienced firsthand the pivotal role such programs can play in a person’s success. Megan has been involved in environmental and feminist activism for approximately twenty years, has dedicated her professional life to advancing such causes.

Sanna Legan

Sanna’s passion for activism and women’s rights has led her to create bold and subversive works, which have earned her national accolades such as a 2017 Scholastic Medal for Visual Arts. Sanna was named a 2018 Young Arts Finalist as well as a 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Her work has been displayed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., featured in Miami Art week, published in various print magazines, and profiled by ABC7 news.

Janet Peguero

Janet currently serves at Deputy Bronx Borough President. Janet was born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Harlem, and calls the Bronx home. A proud immigrant New Yorker, Janet understands firsthand the power of public service and the importance of civic engagement in communities of color. Her passion for serving her community led her to the NYC Department of Small Business Services, where she served as Senior Rezoning Manager. Prior to her work with the City, Janet worked for the Vance Center for International Justice to promote the expansion of access to legal services for civil society organizations in Latin America and Africa.

Marjorie Velázquez

Marjorie was elected to New York City Council in 2021. Marjorie is the daughter of Puerto Rican parents who moved here in the 1970’s to create a better life. Marjorie has dedicated her life to public service and fiercely and tirelessly advocating for her community. Marjorie was appointed to Bronx Community Board 10 where she served as treasurer and executive board member. Marjorie served as Democratic District Leader and an executive board member of the Chippewa Democratic Club. Marjorie earned her degree in Finance and Accounting at the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Felicia Singh

Felicia Singh is former City Council Candidate and a New York City native who grew up in Queens. She served in the Peace Corps from 2013-2015 in China as a TEFL volunteer. During her service, she created and co-taught her school’s first women’s studies course. She is currently a contributing writer and editor with Brown Girl Magazine. She holds an M.A. in Adolescent English Education for grades 7-12 and currently teaches in Brooklyn. Her passions include, but are not limited to discussions on race and diversity, gender equality and feminism and understanding the balance between a healthy mind and body.

Bianca Guerrero

Bianca Guerrero is an organizer and policy wonk interested in building power with progressive women, especially in working class communities of color. She led a statewide economic justice campaign with an all-woman team at Make the Road New York. She served as volunteer coordinator and Field Director in Jamaal Bowman's 2020 campaign in NY-16. She worked on the pandemic response, worker, climate, and other policy issues at City Hall and previously served as a member of the Manhattan Community Board 12. Bianca graduated from Columbia University in 2017.
